"Azziem The Dream” Azziem H. Underwood ran For Barack Obama National Delegate (2008) in Washington State and continues to be committed for change. Hi my name is Azziem Hassan Underwood. I was born in Youngstown Ohio a family of nine. I moved to Seattle in the early 80’s. I’m hard working, dedicated, and committed to the Democratic principles and getting Barack Obama Elected as the next President of the United States of America. Below you will read character and qualities about me. Goal: I live in the 8th Congressional District, 11t Legislative District in Washington State. My goal for helping Barack Obama get Elected as the Next President of the United States of America is to Call over 1,000 residents and raise over $5,000. To this Date, I have given support to Barack Obama by making several calls to Pennsylvania, Indiana, North Carolina, Oregon, Ohio, West Virginal, Kentucky, Washington, and other states and making personal donations to his campaign. I am committed to getting Barack Obama elected. I’m asking for your vote and support as Barack Obama. I am a committed Die-hard Democrat. Having your support and your vote really counts. Employment: At King County 20+ years as a Computer Operator Specialist, I’m the Shop Steward and a proud member in good standings with TEAMSTERS. In 2006, I was a National Delegate to the Teamsters Convention. Just recently, I’ve been promoted to Shift Supervisor of King County Computer Operations. Organizations: I enjoy being involved with organizations such as B.I.G. (Blacks In Government), C.L.U.W. (Coalition of Labor Union Woman), CBTU (Coalition of Black Trade Unionist), and L.G.B.T. /Q (Gay Lesbian Bi-Sexual Trans-gender. Currently, I’m a Board member in the Stonewall Democrats and the Diversity Outreach Director. Community: I’m the President of my Condominium Association for over six terms, prior to that I’ve held other board positions. I enjoyed being involved in our community neighbor watch program. I’m dedicated to improving the quality and security of our community. Working with the sheriffs and others in the community I was able to assist in keeping our community safe from drugs and other hurt harm and danger. But most of all, I enjoy being involved in the democratic process and being involved in the Democratic Party. I am currently the WSDCC. State Committeeman representing the 11th Legislative District; Board member; and the Raffle person for our District. Also, I’m the Washington State Democratic African American Caucus President and past co-chair of the W.S.D.C.C. Affirmative Action Committee. I also held board position in King County Democratic Central Committee K.C.D.C.C. where I chaired the Legislative Action Committee. One of my proudest moments was in 1998 when I won the Warren G. Magnuson Award for Committeeman of the year. In 1999, I ran for State Senate in the 5th LD (D) against the incumbent Dino Rossi. I’m dedicated and committed to getting Barack Obama Elected. I’m asking for your Vote and support for Barack Obama . I’ve been a committed party member before this caucus, I’ll be a committed party member after this caucus but, having your support and your Vote really matters. As I said earlier, I’m from a family of nine. I am next to the youngest in my family and unfortunately I’ve been the first of many things in my family. I was the first to graduate with a Associate Degree, first to travel to London, Paris, Italy, and the Netherlands, first to raise money for Barack Obama, first to be a Teamster National Delegate and Shop Steward, first to be the President of a chapter in a the National organization "Blacks In Government" but most of all my family is proud of me for my grass roots efforts and dedication. My daughter Tia Nicole Edwards and Grandson David Anthony are also very proud of my accomplishments. I truly am the “first” and the way things looks the only one in my family to be a State Delegate for the first African American President. Yes We Can! Yes We Can! I will represented our state well.
