Hi, my name is Craig Morrin. I have been campaigning for Obama since January, trying to get the word out to younger people all across the country about why I think he is the best choice for the next president of the United States, and to encourage them to get registered to vote. In order to access this segment of the population, which is by far Obama’s strongest group of supporters, I have set up a Myspace profile, www.Myspace.com/backbarack. It is a proactive site that has simple things that people can say and do to help Obama win. After Super Tuesday, before our Caucus, I had come to realize that many people (especially young people) did not realize how our state’s wacky system worked for electing the Democratic nominee, and how much of an impact they could actually have by voting. So I created a flyer that people could download and post up at colleges and universities all across our state. In my flyer, along with information on where to go and what to do, I posted three very important points:
I used Myspace to send it to hundreds of friends of Obama throughout Washington State to have them post it up anywhere young people congregate. I don’t know how much of an effect it had, but considering that Barack won our caucuses by over 36 points, while he only won by less than 6 points in the primaries (which did not count)—I would like to believe that my flyers had something of an impact. Since then, I have made flyers up for every state after Washington, and through Myspace, sent messages to many people in each of those states, so that they could download the document and then print them up and post them. Altogether, I estimate that I have so far donated almost 300 hours of my time (on top of working 40+ hours per week as a woodworker) and have sent out over 10,000 messages through Myspace to young people throughout our country. People have told me that they wouldn’t have voted if it hadn’t been for what I had done, and I am sure there are many others I will never know about. To see all of the different flyers I have had people from all around the country post up, click here. I have also recently made a website, called www.HelpBarackWin.org, which has similar information as my Myspace profile so that it is more accessible to the public. Like my Myspace profile, it is about encouraging others to take a more proactive role giving them simple things that they can say and do to really make a difference. I believe there are some good ideas and thoughts in there, so I hope you will check it out. WHY I AM RUNNING AS A NATIONAL DELEGATE: The reason I am running as a national delegate is because, unless Hillary drops out of the race, it will ultimately be determined by the 800 or so Superdelegates that are not bound to any candidate until they vote at the National Convention in August. Even though Barack will have about a 150 pledged-delegate lead after all of the remaining contests are over, that is not enough to guarantee the nomination. It is my intent to see him through. And I will do everything in my power to convince any undecided Superdelegates at the Convention if it comes down to that, from talking to them in person, to passing out flyers saying why he would be the best choice. I believe I have some good arguments, and I hope you will check out on my website, Message to the Superdelegates: My Retort to Hillary’s Best Argument. You will find it on the right-hand side of my home page, towards the bottom when you scroll down. I am confident that Hillary will drop out long before the Convention convenes in August, and that the party will unite behind Obama. But if not, I will do everything I can to make an impact. That is why I feel I would be a good candidate to go to the National Convention: I am passionate, resourceful, innovative, and I believe I have good arguments to convince any undecided Superdelegates, if the need arises. Being a small business owner, I do not have any issues taking the time off to go. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Sincerely, Craig Morrin www.HelpBarackWin.org HelpBarackWin@gmail.com (360)894-2357 Iwill see him through.
