My pitch for National Delegate:
As another skinny kid with a funny name, the son of Indian immigrants who were highly decorated officers in the U.S. Air Force, and a staunch advocate for civil rights and the environment, I've been an unyielding supporter of Barack Obama since his historic DNC speech on July 27, 2004. The following morning, I created an OBAMA 2012 bumper sticker and called his office in Illinois to see if they needed help getting the word out about this rising star and the hope of the Democratic Party.

I am committed to representing the state of Washington, having lived here for 14 years. I'm also the President of a local arts non-profit, a small business owner, a regular performer in the local music scene, an animal lover, and lucky enough to be married to a Norwegian-American--uf-dah! I've eaten curry on Thanksgiving and klüb on Christmas.

In the past, I felt excluded from the mainstream political process, especially by the John Kerry campaign, but by the virtue of Barack being who he is, I was inspired and felt welcome to participate. I went from wanting to start a revolution against something, to participating in a revolution for something--an America that's tired of cynicism and partisan bickering.

I've taken a personal approach to volunteering on behalf of the campaign without pursuing a personal agenda. I'm not interested in documenting the electoral process for my own ends, getting a job in the administration, or trying to get on TV. You won't see my picture on a sign, get handed a flyer, or get spammed. What you will get is someone who is only interested in representing the passion and diversity of our community in support of Barack Obama as the 44thPresident of the United States of America.

I am compelled to ensure that we elect a President who respects and reflects the views of true Americans patriots, many of whom have been marginalized by the Patriot Act and other policies of the Bush administration, but also don't feel the need to wear a pin to show their support of America, its troops overseas, and its ideals. It is our actions that dictate who we are.

I feel I would be a respectful, personable, and knowledgeable representative to the Democratic National Convention on behalf of Barack Obama, able to articulate his viewpoint on the issues facing America, and, in the grand democratic tradition, I'm willing to vocalize when our leaders have let us down.

Finally, to quote George W. Bush out of context, "If you're sick and tired of the politics of cynicism and polls and principles, come and join this campaign."
