The Fresh Air That is Barack Obama!

Abdul-áleem Ahmed - This is the Time for Obama - Barack Obama Delegates

Home town: Seattle, WA

Legislative District:
36th

Occupation:
Union Representative
Business Owner

Short Biography:
I'm a 30-year Washington resident, Vietnam era Veteran who served two tours. I'm married with two children, and my strengths lie in understanding people, networking, experience garnered in building effective teams, project management, and coalition-building.

As a Union Representaive, business owner, devoted husband and father, I'm not afraid to roll up my sleeves and pitch in. I've been an active member of the Machinist Union since 1976 and have served in numerous local lodge and district positions in addition to being a past member of the Washington State Workforce Training Board, and the first co-director of the Quality Through Training Program.

Currently, I serve as a Seattle Vocational Institute Advisory Board member, Precinct Caucus Committeeman, Delegate to the State Democratic Convention, and a Union Organizer.

Politically speaking, I've been working the Get Out the Vote for the past 16 years registering voters, bringing volunteers and activists into the party, promoting Labor and labor issues--including most recently, co-sponsoring the Tanker Resolution at the 36th Legislative District Caucus, and coalition-building with Clinton supporters on behalf of the Obama campaign.

I'm a voice for Labor, Veterans, Health Care, Racial & Economic Parity, and Justice.

WHY I'M A DELEGATE FOR OBAMA:
TOP 5 Reasons I Like Obama
  1. Strengthen Civil Rights Enforcement
  2. Combat Employment Discrimination
  3. Expand Hate Crimes Statutes
  4. End Deceptive Voting Practices
  5. End Racial Profiling
I’m venturing to be your representative at the National Convention because this is the single most important election of our lifetime.

John McCain supports the war and the surge, and obviously shares Bush's desire to bomb Iran. He's also been one of the most consistently anti-choice politicians in Congress with a goal to overturn Roe v Wade. As the ranking Republican on the Senate Armed Services committee John McCain insisted that the Air Force ignore Boeing. Mose likely because his top campaign advisors lobbied to win a $35 billion Air Force tanker contract for Airbus over Boeing--that's 17 years worth of work, and over 9,000 jobs gone.

  • We don't need another dumb manufacutred war;
  • We can't let McCain take away reproductive choice and women's rights; and,
  • We quite literally can't afford a third Bush term of failed economic policies that ship American jobs overseas.

The times have changed, and we’re on the precipice of great change. We’re writing a new chapter in politics, indeed, in history. Garnering real victories for our party in November will be the culmination of our collective struggle to become “…the republic for which it [our flag] stands”.

I'll be canvassing my neighborhood as a PCO/Neighborhood Leader this summer, and working wherever else I'm needed to ensure our country is united under one: Barack Obama, President, USA.

At-Large/PLEO National Delegate!

Barack Obama’s ability to inspire, move, and unify us as a people, and as a nation, moves me to do my part to ensure he’s our next President. Barack Obama has reinvigorated politics—particularly the Democratic Party—and we have to move to aid him.
