Ben Johnson for National DelegateThis is a featured page

Hi fellow Obama Delegates,

As delegates, we all have a responsibility to attend the congressional caucuses this Saturday, so that we can elect people who will represent us well at the national convention. We need people who are dedicated to the Obama campaign or to the Democratic party (preferably both), and who are knowledgeable about the procedures and rules of the national convention (i.e. Robert's Rules of Order).

I am interested in running to be a national delegate, but what I really want is Senator Obama in the White House. As an early and strong supporter of his candidacy, I have canvassed, phone-banked, been a precinct captain for his campaign, registered voters in Washington and Oregon, made buttons, sold buttons, and participated in many other activities in the hope of getting him elected. As a lifelong Democrat, I am dedicated to registering new voters and campaigning for local Democratic candidates in the general election (let's get Darcy Burner elected already).

Also, I am well-versed in parliamentary procedure. I studied it in college and recently attended a Robert's Rules of Order information session. I am currently studying the agenda and rules for the state convention. And if fortunate enough to be elected as a national delegate, I will work hard to be the informed and knowledgeable delegate that we deserve.

I appreciate any support for becoming a national delegate. We have many qualified candidates and I am excited to meet many of you at upcoming campaign events. Please contact me if you have any questions or if want to tell me about why you are running to become a national delegate. I look forward to hearing from you.

Thank you for your time.

Take care,
--

That's Me

About Me:
I was born in Springfield, MA and have lived in Seattle since 1996. I went to high school at Cleveland High School in south Seattle, graduating in 2003. I recently graduated Cum Laude from the University of Washington with a Bachelor's degree in political science and drama. I am currently doing a year of national service through AmeriCorps, through which I am working at a nonprofit called Seattle Children's PlayGarden.

My three passions are politics, theater, and athletics. I have always had a high interest in politics. My parents probably instilled me with this intrigue. Even as a young boy, I remember passionate dinner table conversations between my parents and their friends. In college, my interest grew as I started to take political science courses. Sometime during my sophmore year, I decided that I had no other choice but to pursue a degree in the subject that I loved. I am also an actor, appearing in over 10 productions during college. I played sports in high school (baseball, cross-country, swimming) and to this day, I still claim to be an athlete.
