| Hello, my name is Jacob DeGraaff! | ||

| Short Biography: I am a 30 year old attorney living in Shoreline. I grew up in Whatcom County, moved to San Diego for Law School, then to Pullman after that where got my start at a small general practice. My wife Regina (her bio will be up soon) is a Physics PhD student at Washington State University. We recently moved from Pullman to Shoreline to be closer to her doctoral advisor, who relocated to Victoria, BC. We have been together for half of our lives, and married six years in June. We just might have more family news to post soon ;) Regina and I became very actively involved in the Democratic Party upon our return to Washington. Before moving to Shoreline, I was Vice-Chair, and she was Secretary, of the Whitman County Democrats. | |
As a handful of you may have heard at the 32nd LD Caucus, I have a different take on what a delegate should be. With the Pennslyvania primay results coming in tonight, I know I am not alone in feeling a little bit scared. For me, that fear is that our country will be dealt another blow on par with the 2000 Presidential "election". Part of me really does want to believe that whatever the outcome of the convention in Denver, the Democratic Party will unite and sweep whoever the nominee is into victory. My gut tells me otherwise. I firmly believe that if the Democratic Party does not choose the nominee with the most ELECTED DELEGATES as it's candidate for President, the Democratic Party, and our Country, will be set back more than I have seen in my lifetime. As long as the nomination contest is undecided, WE CANNOT afford to send delegates to Denver on the basis of who is the best cheerleader, or who has supported Obama longest, or who loves him the most. I mean no offense and I am not mocking my fellow delegates, alternates, and Obama's other supporters; it is truly awesome that Barack Obama has been able to earn all of this enthusiastic support. But . . As long as the nomination contest is undecided, WE MUST choose our delegates based on a candidate's ability to work with fellow delegates, party members, and all the tools at hand to KEEP THIS ELECTION FROM BEING STOLEN! We need to send ADVOCATES to Denver. People who will demand that the process be open, fair, and that democracy prevails! I am a professional advocate. I am an attorney, trained not only in the law but in the art and skill of representing your cause to the fullest. My wife is an advocate. Working together, as a team, we helped reform and re-organize the Whitman County Democrats into a strong, relevant organization. I personally fought for a Pullman City Council candidate, smeared by the local paper in an attempt to disqualify him from the election, and we prevailed. I have seen dirty politics, and I will fight to keep it out of the Democratic National Convention in Denver. If you feel like I do, and you rightly fear a stolen election, please support me and my wife Regina for Delegates to Denver. |

Just wanted to drop a line to say I like your passion for the process and your commitment to making sure that 2008 is not a disenfranchising repeat of 2000 and 2004.
