| Short Biography: JANET WAINWRIGHT began her film marketing business 25 years ago. Her ten clients include: 20th Century Fox, Paramount Vantage, Columbia Pictures and Universal Pictures. Janet’s unparalleled knowledge of the Pacific Northwest and her ability to bring people together has resulted in marketing opportunities, strategically developed and pursued with care and integrity. She brought the first horse in history into a movie theater for the film SEABISCUIT. She arranged for Governor Gregoire to read Curious George in the downtown Seattle Public Library for CURIOUS GEORGE. Janet convinced the Yakama Nation to allow non-tribal members to adopt the Tribe's wild horses in celebration of the release of FLICKA. She hosted former Vice President Al Gore in Seattle for AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH. Janet has the ability to bring people together and to conceive inspired and dynamic promotions that benefit the community as well as the films she represents. THE HEALTH CARE CRISIS JANET WAINWRIGHT, as a single mom, understands the health care crisis. Her daughter was born with a heart defect that resulted in numerous surgeries, including open-heart surgery at 15 months. Today, a thriving young woman of 22, her daughter requires costly medication . As a member of Group Health, Janet and her daughter have excellent health care. However, Janet is concerned about others who are less fortunate and is using her talents to bring people together to help solve the health care crisis. She is a member of the Group Health Foundation Board of Directors. Her main issue is community and uncompensated health care for those who cannot afford it. ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES JANET WAINWRIGHT graduated from the University of Washington with a BS in Forest Biology. She has been a tireless advocate for the environment. As Director of the Washington Wildlife and Recreation Coalition she worked with a diverse group of businesses, organizations and community leaders to spearhead a drive to purchase land for parks, recreation and natural areas. As Director of the Washington Environmental Council she brought people together to hammer out solutions regarding open space, the health of the Puget Sound, forest practices and toxic chemicals. | |
