WHY I'M A DELEGATE FOR OBAMA:
TOP 5 Reasons I Like Obama
  1. Unifier
  2. Truth Teller
  3. Genuine Compassion
  4. Openness
  5. Intelligence
I want to go to Denver for them – the people who have inspired me since I started looking for others who would support Barack Obama and founded the Obama Dallas grassroots group in January 2007. They were a handful at first, but soon grew to hundreds and then thousands. They are of all ages, all colors, all religions, all races, all sexual orientations; poor, rich, dropouts, teachers, students, blue-collar, professional, retired, life-long Democrats, Independents, and disillusioned Republicans. Most of them have never been active in politics before.

I’ve worked thousands of hours over the last seventeen months to support their efforts for the Obama campaign. Sometimes I got very tired, but I never quit because I could not let them down. They have inspired me in countless ways. They set aside a part of their very busy lives to help change our country for the better. They gave my own efforts a strong sense of purpose and together we accomplished a great deal. I want to share with you a few of their stories.

Who are they?
  • They are students like Cameron Young who organized students on their high school and college campuses to raise money with concerts and garage sales, register voters and recruit others. They are the future of the party and our nation.
  • They are teachers like Fatema Bviji who want our children to grow up with the knowledge and skills they need for the future and genuine hope that they will succeed in attaining their dreams.
  • They are community leaders like Claudia Fowler and Edna Pemberton who have effectively organized their neighborhoods in support of Barack Obama. They deserve much of the credit for the strength of the Obama victory in Dallas.
  • They are young professionals like attorney Sarah Hill who organized our canvassing in Oak Cliff and event planners Rashida Williams and Sarah Crisman who planned countless meetings and fund-raisers.
  • They are retirees like Molly Hanchey who has made Obama Dallas her full time job and built a grass-roots organization that is among the most respected in the nation by the Obama Campaign.
  • They are new citizens like Scarlett Hill from England who is voting for the first time and worked many hours with her two daughters in the Obama Dallas office.

They accomplished amazing things. Some of them put their lives on hold, joined the campaign and spent a year traveling from state-to-state and worked sixteen hour days for survival wages and a chance to change America. Some of them organized a huge food drive for the North Texas Food Bank. They walked, called, donated and emailed. They registered, fund-raised, phone banked and canvassed. They staffed hundreds of volunteer positions at seven local appearances by Barack and Michelle Obama. They won the Texas delegate contest for Senator Obama.
