When is the ideal time to be there?
- If want to see platform committee on Friday – fine. Otherwise, main responsibility for delegates is on Saturday.
- Recommending that those wanting to run for at-large come on Friday night to schmooze and Saturday to be there with the delegates.
- Other ideas: have platform hearings locally (will post the proposed state platform from May 20-30 with final version sent out 10 days prior to the convention). There are 2 different times to submit comments (May 28th with 15 signatures; June 10th with 50 signatures).

Note: For alternates – the credentials process goes up through Saturday morning (at noon)
For the Election Committee (those elected as national delegates at the congressional district level), your responsibilities also span through Sunday.
Email from the State Party:
Dear Del/Alt, Through its meetings on May 10th and 11th in Seattle and on May 18th in Ellensburg, the Platform and Resolutions Committee has produced the First Draft of the 2008 Washington State Democratic Party Platform. Click here to see the complete First Draft, it can also be viewed on the main page of Platform and Resolutions. Comments will be accepted under the individual planks they address and directed to the appropriate subcommittee. These comments will be placed before that plank's subcommittee for review at their next meeting. Formal amendments to the platform can be submitted for consideration by the Platform and Resolutions Committee by emailing an electronic version compatible with Microsoft Word 2003 to gregh@wa-democrats.org and mailing a hard copy of the amendment [signed by at least fifteen (15) delegates, no more than ten (10) of whom come from both the same County and the same Legislative District, or by any twenty five (25) delegates (electronic signatures are not allowed)] to the office of the Washington State Democratic Party at PO Box 4027, Seattle, 98194 or faxing it to (206) 583-0301 by 5:00 on Wednesday, May 28, 2008. The Platform and Resolutions Committee has also considered all resolutions received by the State Party office prior to the first meeting. A list of all resolutions, and the recommendation of that resolution's subcommittee, can be found here. The full text of those resolutions recommended "do pass" or "do pass with amendments" is also available on the main page of Platform and Resolutions. Further resolutions may be submitted by following the same procedure used for amendments above. The Platform and Resolutions Committee will next meet on May 31st. At this time, it will review all comments and consider all proposed amendments to the platform, as well as all resolutions, including those that did not receive a do pass recommendation from their subcommittees, those that were submitted too late to be considered by a subcommittee, and those newly submitted under the procedure outline above. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Greg Haffner at (206) 583-0664 or gregh@wa-democrats.org. Thank you for comments and consideration in this matter,
Jaxon Ravens
