Suzi LeVine - Making Change with ObamaThis is a featured page

Consider this: I voluntarily created this site because I want delegates (the ultimate super-volunteers) to focus their valuable time on electing Obama. I hope that you find it useful and that you recognize its creation as an example of my ability to lead and go from issue/opportunity to idea to action. I would recommend that you only vote for me (or anyone else) if you think that I have, am and will continue to help Barack to the very best of my ability - and that the caliber of my work and leadership on Obama's behalf is of the very highest quality.

Thank you so much for the vote of confidence and support and electing me as a national delegate! I will continue to work hard on your behalf and share my experiences.

I am working effectively & organizing to get Obama elected
what you'll read here shows someone who can take the initiative, rally resources (people, facilities, and more) and get whatever needs doing, Done!. This fall - it's about getting Obama AND all of the down ticket democrats elected.
  • Responsible on behalf of the Obama campaign for delegate turnout for 20% of the state - successfully maintaining or increasing our delegate ratios in all of my LDs/counties (0-20% increases. Specifically - I have been volunteering as a full-time coordinator and liaison from the Obama campaign to increase/ensure delegate turnout in districts and counties throughout the state - (incl. Okanogan county, Spokane, the 36th, Island county, Snohomish, Whatcom, San Juan, Clark and others..). See quotes below
  • Conceived, defined and drove development of this obamadelegates.org site - I created this site in order to increase the time folks have to dedicate to electing Obama, reduce spam and help people still get the word out on themselves. The key here was organizing and garnering the resources to help design and fill out the site. The other key point here is that it is now a vehicle for better organizing Delegates Nationwide all the way through and beyond August.
  • Delegate and LD coordinator from the 36th Legislative district to the 7th Congressional District caucus
  • Inaugural member of Obama’s NW Finance committee (Feb 07) —raising over $25K to date
  • Housed & fed 2 Obama staffers for a month prior to the LD caucuses
  • Deciphered caucuses and independently distributed “Caucus for Dummies” —garnering at least 200 new precinct caucus attendees for Obama who directly attributed my early and accurate information to their attendance and preparedness.
  • Became a PCO specifically in order to lead my precinct caucus and doorbell for Obama.
  • Deeply loyal to Obama even if there is pressure at the Convention to switch or to seat Michigan & Florida delegates with their current percentages
Ideas and plans in the works:
  • Delegate camp - if this goes to a floor fight, (boot camp if you want it to sound military-ish) - A 1 or 2 day retreat held regionally across the US in the June/July timeframe to prepare for the National Convention in the event of a floor fight. More info available upon request.
  • Eat the Vote - (like Rock the vote, but with food) An attempt to increase voter registration in Seattle (and perhaps across the country). Any person who registers to vote gets a complementary dessert – because democracy is sweet. I'm just getting started on this idea, so please email me if you can help - especially if you have restaurant connections.
  • Caffeinate the Vote - a variation of the point above - but work with the WA-democrats to work out a volunteer staffing plan at coffee shops and make arrangements with the coffee shop owners to keep registration forms in house. Please email me if you have coffeeshop owner connections and/or if you spend a tremendous amount of time in a specific coffeeshop and could "adopt" that place.
I am putting Obama's vision into action - even before he wins the Presidency

  • As someone who is vision driven and knows how to get things done, I have a successful track record of taking my ideas/asking questions, converting those into plans and then delivering/acting on those ideas and plans - Just like Obama! In addition, Obama emphasizes the need for community service. I have taken my professional skills and done just that - translating those skills into the non-profit/community volunteer space. Two primary examples of enabling Obama's vision include:
    • Early learning: Doing strategic planning with I-LABS at UW, the world’s leading early learning research facility, to facilitate world-changing research that will improve human potential by discovering the fundamentals of human learning. In the past 2 years, I have been a major catalyst helping raise more than $9M toward this vision. See quote below from Rep. Ruth Kagi of the 32nd on my work with her on this area.
    • Community building: Co-founded a new, open and successful Jewish community based in CD7 called the Kavana Cooperative that isn't even out of the box, it’s without a box
  • In fact, in the past year, I've been recognized by two very prestigious statewide awards for my work:
    • Winner of 2008 statewide Helen M. Jackson “Woman of Valor” award for community involvement and leadership—especially citing early learning
    • 2007 Winner of Spitzer Young Leadership award for community involvement across the entire Seattle Jewish Community

WHY I'M A DELEGATE FOR OBAMA:
I first met Obama in a small group and became inspired by him in Spring 2005 - before he had articulated any Presidential aspirations. We were in Dick Durbin's minority whip office in the Capitol, I was 7 months pregnant with my daughter and he came over to talk with me about our kids. He was so incredibly real, open and present. But what struck me more deeply than anything else was his energy - just this deep sense of confidence-inducing calm. Then, when he addressed our little group, his words bespoke a wisdom far in excess of a junior and freshman Senator. He shared vision and a positive and hopeful outlook. It was in stark contrast to what I had experienced the prior night at an event in Hillary Clinton's house where I attended a Senate-campaign fundraiser. While I was impressed with her intellectual horsepower, her energy was far more frenetic and reactive and was not inspirational in a positive way. From that point on, I have worked tirelessly to elect him as our next President.

Below is something I wrote in order to articulate why I think that Obama must be our next President:
Vision and Hope only take you so far.

Barack Obama is uniquely qualified to actually deliver on his Vision and Hope for a “more perfect union”

His strategy is simple – he starts by listening and looking for common ground, not battleground. And not just listening to those with whom he agrees. He synthesizes information from a broad array of sources – looking for what’s intelligent, not what’s coming from someone with a particular label or party affiliation.

He maintains transparency and accountability – even if it’s uncomfortable. As he said in a speech here at Bell Harbor “I’m human and I will make mistakes, but you will always know where I stand and what I’m thinking”.

And then, most importantly, he inspires and motivates in his calm yet energizing way . Because of the consensus building and how he keeps us “in the loop”, we feel empowered as a part of the plan itself.

I ask you to join me in helping a once in a lifetime leader, a person who brings vision and hope together with action and inspiration, to reach the White House.
WHAT OTHERS HAVE TO SAY
These statements are on behalf of the individuals and do not reflect endorsements from the organizations listed

"Suzi was a great asset in getting the 36th LD GOTC effort organized--filling in, helping out, spurring on, and making things happen across one of the densest concentrations of Democrats and Obama supporters in the state. The success of the caucus is illustrative: we increased our percentage and delivered an extra delegate to the next level--no mean feat in a district with more than 2000 precinct delegates and alternates to contact, inform, and manage. Suzi's efforts were key to this success."
Dave Morehouse, 36th District Captain for Obama
----
"Over the past two years, I have had the opportunity to work with Suzi LeVine to build support for research and policy supporting early learning. She is a tireless and strategic advocate for children.
"Suzi is a dedicated volunteer, and has already worked tirelessly for Senator Obama by fundraising, phone calling and building networks. I strongly endorse her bid to be elected as an Obama delegate because she will do her utmost to help him win in November."
Representative Ruth Kagi
32nd District

"To Whom It May Concern with Regards to Electing Suzi LeVine to become a national delegate in CD 7;

"My name is Robin Kamerling. I am elected as a state delegate for Obama from CD5. I live in a rural Okanogan county. Correct information is not easily gained here, if one is Democrat. Our party is not very organized. Suzi called to connect with me about our county convention and to educate me about the 15% rule. This motivated me to make personal phone calls to all the other elected delegates to make sure they showed up. As there was not a complete list of numbers and email addresses, this was not easy- but Suzi's accessibility and her dedication to Senator Obama's campaign rubbed off on me and I felt motivated and supported to follow through. Suzi sent me scripts to use on the phone, she organized the pickup of campaign materials so that our rural county could have even a few signs, letters and stickers. Suzi's explaination of the 15% rule helped me to enforce the importance at our caucus of electing STRONG Obama supporters as delegates. This reinforcement earned Obama 2 extra delegates in a county whose precinct caucuses turned out 87% for Obama. {note from Suzi - we actually shut out Clinton because she only got 13% and Robin was the one to point this out}

"I believe Suzi LeVine is completely well qualified, to represent CD 7 at the national level. Not only did I gain powerful information that helped our county to offer extra delegates to Obama and to keep Clinton form getting any, but my experience with Suzi also supported me with her infectious enthusiasm and complete dedication to this campaign.

Most Sincerely,
Robin Kamerling, Okanogan Delegate"

“I’ve been a fellow volunteer with Suzi in a number of capacities since 2004. I was really glad to see she has been an Obama activist and not only in the 36th LD but also helping to organize on the other side of the mountains and online. She’s highly organized, highly competent, a high intensity volunteer, and on my short list of Obama activists from the 7th CD I recommend for your consideration to send to Denver.
Rob Dolin, Vice-Chair for Elections, 43rd LD Democrats; Vice-Chair for Communications, King County Democrats
